Two Saturdays ago I missed one of the best Saturdays of college football in recent memory because of the Ole Miss trip, but this week made up for it. Seeing Alabama beat Tennessee in Tuscaloosa was one of the best sports moments I've seen in my life. Better than David Justice winning homer in the sixth against the Indians, better than beating Florida twice in 1999, better than Auburn in 2001, better than demolishing Urban Meyer's Florida offense this season. The 2002 victory in Tennessee was great, but that whole season will be forgotten because of a certain fraud's actions after the season. The 2005 victory is more like a big fuck you to Phillip Fulmer, who said to many recruits that "Alabama will be out of business in two years." Well guess what? Bama is in business. Business of kicking your ass, and let me tell ya, business is booming. Phillip Fulmer might have gotten away with sacrificing our program to save his own from the NCAA, but he couldn't stop a team full of guys like Harper, Croyle, Ryans, the Castilles, and many others who have pulled this program out of what should have been a decade long dormant period into title contention. Alabama has no business beating teams like Tennessee, not just a few years after receiving the harshest penalties the NCAA can give short of the death-penalty. Just ask Miami, it took them clear into the next millennium to recover from the NCAA lowering the boom on them.
In other news: I'm going to give you a poker scenario, and you decide what to do. A guy in middle action raises thirteen over (early in a 40 unit chip game), you are big blind holding 5H-6H and are hurting just because you lost a good amount of chips. With the raise of thirteen, he has basically committed himself to going all-in at some point in this hand, so you better be damn sure you have overs...but who would fire that many chips in with pocket 4s or lower? You know the guy who raised has tendency to be trigger happy with good hands, so what do you do?
The answer is that the Astros better hope they can start Roy Oswalt for four games or they'll still have less World Series titles than even my Braves.
